Clinical Exprerience
I have over 15 years of experience working individually and within organizations with a variety of individuals from diverse cultures, class backgrounds, sexual preferences and beliefs and with a range of psychological difficulties. In that time I have developed the ability to offer my clients an atmosphere of safety and mutual respect, helping them to overcome their everyday difficulties and obtain an increased level of satisfaction and control over their lives.
I’ve worked with women being affected by domestic violence at Woman’s Trust, and with individuals dealing with a range of different psychological difficulties at MIND in Tower Hamlets, MIND in Harrow and TASHA Foundation in London, where I offered weekly, one-to-one therapeutic sessions. I have also worked as an Assistant Psychologist at the Children’s Department in two different Mental Health Centres in Athens, diagnosing and assessing emotional and learning difficulties of children and adolescents with the use of psychometric and projective tests.
I have been involved in volunteer work for two different NGO schemes. At New Horizon Youth Centre I was responsible for helping the full-time staff Youth Team to deliver a range of services to young homeless people. As a Support Worker with Camden Victim Support, I was responsible for making contact with victims of crime that had been referred to the scheme to offer them support, usually in their own homes, either emotional and/or practical.
At the moment, apart from my private practice, I volunteer for Doctors of the Worlds, Greece. There, I organize and conduct monthly psychoeducational parent counselling seminars to schools in the area of Keratsini, where I offer them information and ways to deal with their children in issues such as setting healthy boundaries, building healthy relationships, divorce, domestic violence. I also offer one to one therapy to people who are struggling financially and/or are refugees seeking asylum in Greece, and who are dealing with a number of psychological difficulties.
